Candida Question #36 Do I need Dietary Supplements? Isn’t Diet Enough?

Do I need dietary supplements? I thought diet was sufficient to help me conquer my yeast infection.

In Section 1 in Chapter 7 of my book, Candida Crusher, there’s about 160 pages worth of diet and nutrition information, and I outline the importance of why diet and nutrition is important but also explain about dietary supplements. In Section 4 of that chapter, however, I go into much more detail about specialized food as well as dietary supplements.

While dietary supplements are not absolutely necessary for you to get rid of a yeast infection, what you will find is they will help you to speed up your recovery considerably. And in many cases of chronic yeast infection, I find them necessary to help you to have a deep-seated recovery from your yeast infection, which you may have had for many years. So while they are not absolutely necessary, they’re of enormous help. And when used carefully and judiciously along with a carefully controlled diet and a healthy balanced lifestyle, they will help you permanently overcome your yeast infection.

How long do you take the supplements for?

To answer that question it depends on how much need you have for them and my recommendations are to stop taking supplements when you no longer have benefits from them. And in some cases that could be three to four months. In other cases, it could be one to two years. So there’s no real clearly defined time for you to stop taking the products.

So I’ve developed certain products and carefully chosen nutrients based on my experience. And after having used hundreds of different types of yeast infection products in my clinic over many years, I’ve come to the conclusion that certain specific nutrients and herbs are paramount in helping you to fully and deeply recover from a yeast infection.

You can read a lot more of those in Chapter 7, Section 4 of the book, Candida Crusher. I’ll explain a little bit more about different types of supplements and nutrients in other frequently asked questions.

Candida Question #35 I Have Crazy Cravings For Sugar What Can I Do To Stop It?

I really crave bread or wine or ice cream or sugar or candy or any type of sweet food. What can I do to quell these cravings?

There are different types of sugar cravings. Some people have mild sugar cravings other people have massive sugar cravings. So it really depends to what extent you’ve been eating these sweet or treat foods right up to the point where now you’re interested in eradicating your yeast infection.

So a couple of tricks and tips which I’ll give you now, but you’ll find many more in my book, Candida Crusher. A classic way to help with mild sugar cravings is to take chromium picolinate, about between 200 to 500 mcg depending on your body size. Take this between two to three times per day with food, particularly in the morning. You’ll find that chromium will help. If you’ve got killer cravings to the point where you’re prepared to get in the car and drive down to the shop to buy some chocolate ice cream, you may want to have a small bottle of a herb called Gymnema and put some of this in your mouth with those strong cravings. It’s quite a bitter herb. You can dilute it in a little bit of water and this will stop the killer cravings. You’ll get a result from this one to two hours after you take the Gymnema Sylvestre. You’ll get this herb probably from your herbalist.

As I mentioned in my book, there are many different tricks and tips on helping you to overcome your sugar craving. But changing your diet for the better, improving your protein intake and the quality of your proteins and dropping the junk for about two to three weeks prior to starting the induction diet, you’ll be well on your way to getting rid of these sugar cravings. Once you do, it will be one of the best decisions you’ve made because all of a sudden you’ve started to reduce one of your biggest risk factors for yeast infection and that’s sweet foods.

Candida Question #34 Can A Vaginal Yeast Infection Be Passed To A Man And Cause A Prostate Infection?

Yes it can. It is possible and I’ve certainly seen it in the clinic on several occasions. It’s not as common as many people think it is, but it certainly does occur.

While Candida albicans is not necessarily a sexually-transmitted disease, it can be passed from male to female and female to male. And I have had some instances, which I’ve written one of these case studies in my book, Candida Crusher, regarding a 27-year-old male from a New Zealand rock band, a drummer, with quite a serious prostate infection. When we had his girlfriend checked out by the doctor, she had a rampant Candida infection. We eventually got rid of his yeast infection over a period of time through dietary change and also some dietary supplements helped eradicate the yeast infection.

So precautions need to be taken with hygiene. And it is certainly possible to move Candida around through sexual activity. So for females with a vaginal yeast infection, I would recommend that you take precautions in a relationship with your partner to stop the spread of Candida.
