Can thong underwear cause yeast infection?

Good day, Eric Bakker, naturopath, author of Candida Crusher with another question.

Here’s a question from a lady in New York. Can wearing thong underwear cause a yeast infection? I think this lady’s talking about those G-string kind of underclothing.

I don’t think it can cause a yeast infection, but I think that if you’ve got an existing infection, it may be harder for you to get rid of if you’ve got quite tight clothing in the genital area that’s not going to allow a lot of air to get to the region.

So if you’ve got an existing vaginal infection, it’s probably not a good idea to wear thongs or what you call thong, I believe, or a G-string. If you do wear them, don’t wear them for long periods of time. You’re better off wearing loose cotton clothing in this area. It’s going to be better in terms of allowing that area to recover quicker, particularly if you’re going to do good treatments.

I’ve got a very good treatment in Chapter 5 of my book, a three-stage protocol for instant relief. And there is also a two-stage protocol for chronic yeast infections, which is going to work exceptionally well.

So if you’ve got a current infection, probably not a good idea to wear a thong or a G-string for prolonged periods of time. You’ll probably get away with it, but not for days and days on end.

So I don’t think it causes yeast infections as such, but I certainly think it will make you have one longer or find it harder to get rid of if you have got a yeast infection. Stick with the more loose cotton clothing. Silk is also quite good to wear.

So I hope that answers your question. Thank you.

Can I get yeast infection from wearing silk underwear?

Hi there, Eric Bakker again, naturopath, author of Candida Crusher with another question I get asked regarding yeast infections.

Can silk underwear cause a yeast infection?

Silk is not really a problem because like Moreno wool, cotton, these are natural fibers that tend to breathe. So I don’t think you’ll really have a problem with silk. However, like any other kind of underclothing, you would need to keep it clean and change it quite frequently.

The underclothing which is not a good idea to wear, however, is nylon or polyester or other kinds of artificial fibers that don’t breathe. They’re going to keep you a lot warmer and increase perspiration, and they don’t breathe and they tend to encourage the proliferation of vaginal infections.

So silk underwear should be okay to use. Lucky you, if you can buy silk underwear. It’s really nice to wear I’ve been told. But Moreno underwear is what I prefer to use. It is a beautiful, very fine woolen fabric that is beautiful to wear. You hardly even know you’re wearing it and it breathes and it’s a fantastic fiber to wear.

So you’ll be fine with silk. I hope that answers your question.

Are leggings a cause of yeast infection?

Hi there, Eric Bakker, naturopath, author of Candida Crusher with another question regarding yeast infections.

Do leggings cause a yeast infection?

They shouldn’t really cause a problem. If you get recurring vaginal infections, my advice would be not to wear pantyhose or leggings or clothing that would potentially warm up the lower half of your body. You’re better off wearing loose cotton clothing. Anything that’s going to potentially warm you up could dispose you towards more or recurring vaginal infections. So keep your body cool. Also don’t cross your legs. Allow the vaginal area to breathe more.

There are many hints and tips I’ve written in my book, Candida Crusher, particularly in Chapter 5 on chronic infections and how to overcome them. There are many sections on hints and tips, which if you put into place, you should not really have a problem. Dry yourself properly, use cotton clothing, use a hair dryer to dry the region, if you can. These are all very good tips.

So leggings don’t really cause a problem, but try not to overheat your body.

I hope that answers your question.
