Can condoms cause a yeast infection?

Well, from some reports I read online, condoms actually can be implicated in yeast infections for a couple of reasons. According to a report I read recently on the internet, I believe it was Michigan State University found that there was a spermicidal lubricant called Nonoxynol-9, which can actually cause or exacerbate a slight yeast infection and blow them right up.

So if you are a guy using condoms or a female with a yeast infection and your partner is using a condom, make sure that it doesn’t contain a spermicidal product on this condom. Just use some coconut oil and try and get away from anything like that; any spermicides on it.

The other thing is some woman actually have a latex allergy and condoms can actually provoke symptoms of a yeast infection in a female, and she may even think she’s got a yeast infection after a condom has been used. Latex allergies can be a bit like a yeast infection. They can cause itchiness and redness, so be sure to talk to your doctor about this. You may even get checked to see if you’ve got a latex allergy, and that could be a real concern, too. So make sure you get that checked out.

Yeah, condoms can be implicated there to a degree, so make sure you use plain ones and don’t use the spermicide on them and be sure to get checked out to see if you have a latex allergy. It could be a real concern if you do. But there are certainly alternatives, but just talk to your doctor about that.

So I hope that answers your question. Thank you.
